Faces of the Era
Evolution of Facial Expressions in The 20th Century
I conducted a detailed analysis of the impact that major historical events, such as the Great Depression and World War II, had on actors' facial expressions in films. By comparing representative films from different eras, I examined how acting styles and emotional expression evolved in response to shifting societal landscapes. My research delved into the cultural influences that shaped performance, revealing how the emotional tone of actors was deeply affected by the societal issues of their time. This exploration highlighted the connection between historical moments and the way actors conveyed emotions on screen, offering insight into the broader relationship between culture and cinematic performance.
